Thank you for visiting my website.
Since summer 2009 I have been a full time cyclist. Well, as full time as you can be while not being a professional. By this I should say that while the priority of my life is to be the best racing cyclist I can be, I still have to pay the bills... just like you! So despite being a Building Surveying graduate, I still earn my keep through a variety of means, bike shops, hotels... you name it!
I have been cycling as long as I can remember but really only got into racing during my time at university. Staring out in Liverpool my time at uni was ultimately very much overshadowed by my growing obsession with cycle sport. This was a factor in my decision to return to the South East to complete the remainder of my degree at Kingston University. After a successful season in 2008 racing pretty much on my own, I joined the excellent InGear Development Squad. Throughout this time team manager Alan Denman and his colleagues greatly improved me as a rider. Alan has now moved up to Scotland working for Scottish Cycling, but is always at the end of a phone whenever I need him, and is still instrumental in my progress through competitive cycling.
There's also Alex Higham, a superb rider in his own right, he is also an excellent mentor and coach. His understanding of training with power is second to none. No doubt helped by his knowledge of physiology, he is a doctor after all. Alex helps me plan my training, and most importantly helps make sense of all the numbers an SRM Power Meter throws out at you.
2010 marked the start of my career as a racing cyclist in Belgium, and I shan't lie, not once was it ever easy, but I survived. I had brilliant support from a few key individuals who will know who they are if they read this page. Without them, 2010 may have been very different indeed. Thinking I was older and wiser, I stepped into 2011, in Belgium once more. It wasn't how it was supposed to be. But here I am raring for 2012, new team, and renewed passion.
It's another step up in the calibre of racing, so I'll be reliant on all of those mentioned above like never before. But this is it, you only live once!
